Tom BowdenJohn Ridpath died a year ago. To honor him, the Ayn Rand Institute has prepared a written tribute that we are pleased to share with those who knew him and those who didn’t.
Dr. Ridpath wore many hats — professor, debater, lecturer, husband and father, outdoorsman, world traveler — and his support for ARI and the Objectivist movement never wavered throughout his long and eventful life. In this illustrated tribute you will learn about his life, sample his writing and oratory, and read personal reminiscences from people who knew him. Included are remembrances from his son Jefferson Ridpath as well as Harry Binswanger, Michael Berliner, Sandra Shaw, Peter Schwartz, Lindsay Journo, David Sokol and M. Northrup Buechner.
In cooperation with Dr. Ridpath’s family, ARI has created the John Ridpath Memorial Fund. Its purpose is to provide students with scholarships to conferences on Ayn Rand’s ideas and to the Objectivist Academic Center, where students receive an in-depth education from experts on the philosophy of Objectivism. Teaching students, and teaching Objectivism, were two of Dr. Ridpath’s passions, and his family wanted to have this means of remembering him.
