The Ayn Rand Institute Press is happy to announce the release of a new book: Why Act on Principle? This volume is a collection of fourteen enduring philosophic essays written by Leonard Peikoff, the preeminent Ayn Rand scholar and heir to her estate.
The essays – many of which have never been anthologized and are hard to find – integrate around the nature and application of principles in one’s life. The pieces range from abstract philosophic issues, in essays such as “Why Should One Act on Principle?” “Maybe You’re Wrong,” “Fact and Value” and “Philosophy and Psychology in History” to major cultural-political issues, such as the fall of communism, modern art, and the pivotal O.J. Simpson verdict.
As Yaron Brook, chairman of ARI’s board of directors, writes in the foreword to this book,
The incisive essays collected in this book will enrich your knowledge of Ayn Rand’s philosophy, help you understand pivotal cultural events and trends, and, what is more, provide you with a model of what it looks like to apply Objectivist principles to the real world.
Why Act on Principle? was officially announced by ARI’s CEO Tal Tsfany during his keynote talk at the 2024 Objectivist summer conference. The book, which was distributed as a gift to conference attendees, is now available for purchase on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.
“Dr. Peikoff’s writings, courses and talks have long been indispensable to anyone seriously exploring Objectivism,” said Elan Journo, vice president of content at ARI. “And we’re proud to have helped grow the reach of his work to a global audience, for example by making his courses accessible online and by helping to adapt many of them into books, such as Founders of Western Philosophy: From Thales to Hume.” The writings contained in Why Act on Principle? are vitally important, and “we’re thrilled to give them added permanence and even more visibility – especially for younger students of Objectivism.”
The book is available in paperback and Kindle formats on Amazon.
