Ayn Rand Conferences are one of ARI’s main platforms for reaching young admirers of Ayn Rand’s philosophy with high potential. After many conferences in Europe, the U.S., and Latin America, the time had come to gather Australian fans of Objectivism.
AynRandCon-Australia 2024 took place in beautiful Brisbane in early December. During two intense days, two of our outstanding speakers, Yaron Brook and Nikos Sotirakopoulos, engaged with a group of nearly eighty attendees who have a genuine passion for Rand’s ideas. Conference offerings ranged from talks on Objectivism’s radical nature, capitalism, and the Middle East, to small-group discussions, networking sessions and social events.
One conference highlight was a small-table discussion that provided material for an in-depth Q&A session. Another was a social evening at a picturesque bar by the Brisbane River that energized attendees and enabled connections.
I asked Nikos Sotirakopoulos about his own perspective on the conference in relation to our mission of teaching and spreading Objectivism:
How do you turn a bright young person from “I’m just interested in Ayn Rand” to “I am now an active part of the Objectivist community”? It is through in-person events, like the one we had in Australia. This is why I see our conferences and travels as more than just work — they’re a mission. We’re bringing Objectivism to new places, inspiring young minds who will carry its torch as the intellectual vanguard of the future.
AynRandCon 2024 in Brisbane was the first conference organized in Australia — but certainly not the last.
In the meantime, other AynRandCons are just around the corner: AynRandCon Europe, in Berlin from March 14-16, and AynRandCon USA, in Austin from February 28-March 2.
