How can one navigate the distinctive challenges of flourishing in older age? And how can Objectivism help to think deeply about one’s priorities, relationships, and self-concept? Join us at the next ARI Member Roundtable to discuss these and other questions with philosopher Tara Smith.
Dr. Smith is professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, where she holds the Anthem Foundation Fellowship in the Study of Objectivism. Her books include Viable Values: A Study of Life as the Root and Reward of Morality and Ayn Rand’s Normative Ethics: The Virtuous Egoist. Her recent books include Egoism Without Permission: The Moral Psychology of Ayn Rand’s Ethics and The First Amendment: Essays on the Imperative of Intellectual Freedom. Dr. Smith is also a member of the board of directors of the Ayn Rand Institute.
During the Roundtable, Dr. Smith will share her current thinking on some of the issues and challenges that arise with aging, and on the role Objectivism can play in aging selfishly.
The interview will take place on Saturday, November 16, at 10 a.m. Pacific time / 1 p.m. Eastern time, followed by breakout rooms hosted by ARI staff and scholars, concluding with a free-form hangout session. The event will last approximately 90 minutes, with an additional hour for the hangout. Invitations have already been sent to current ARI Members. If you’d like to attend this Roundtable and future events, consider becoming a Member.
