Newly discovered archival audio of Ayn Rand at the Ford Hall Forum contains substantial portions of her post-lecture Q&A sessions that are not available in existing public recordings on YouTube.
On Saturday, May 10, ARI donors will get an exclusive first listen to these extremely rare recordings of Rand at her most intellectually revealing.
Between 1961 and 1981, Rand gave nineteen lectures at the Ford Hall Forum in Boston, the oldest free public lecture series in the United States. These talks marked her longest-standing engagement with the public — and the Q&A periods, in particular, offer a vivid window into her mind at work.
Rand’s extemporaneous answers at the Ford Hall Forum are unlike anything else in her recorded legacy. In responding to audience questions — on topics ranging from politics, culture, art, ethics, and personal values — she often explored ideas and made connections that appear nowhere else in her published works.
This Roundtable, hosted by ARI archivists Audra Hilse and Brandon Lisi, offers an early preview of major new content to be unveiled at ARI’s conference, OCON 2025, in Boston, including a physical archival exhibit and a special panel event on July 3.
