I've never seen Donald Trump holding a book or recommending a book (except maybe "Art of the Deal"). I don't think he reads books, either for learning or pleasure.
All of this has been swimming around in my head for quite some time. Thanks for finally clarifying it all by explaining exactly who and what Donald Trump is. It is impossible to lie if you don't care what truth is. And a country fed up with intellectuals destroying and betraying the good for decades finally turned to 'Curry Meigs' as the answer.
Omkar Ghate should get out of his ivory tower of pure intellection..... Every proposition he said about Trump is patently wrong. Trump is a politician of the highest order, smarter than most of his "political enemies" and an equal match to Mr. Obama in tactics. There is no special need, or even an ordinary need, to intellectualize any of this. Trump triumphs, period.
“Political authoritarians rely on scapegoats”, but in the end, they come after all of us. We need to stop this from going any further. Thanks for publishing this, Dr. Ghate.
Ayn Rand would argue that Objectivists should support Donald Trump due to the dire consequences of his opponents’ potential victory. She would highlight how Trump’s opposition to global ultra-collectivist organizations—like the World Economic Forum, World Health Organization, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and European Union—protects essential freedoms such as free speech, deregulation, and a pro-business ethic, which are vital for Objectivism to thrive. She would critique so-called Objectivists for clinging to frozen abstractions and ignoring reality’s existential threats… Trump’s AI deregulation, enabling tools like Elon Musk’s Grok, exemplifies his practical alignment with Objectivist values, a stance supported by innovators like Marc Andreessen, urging builders to act in their rational self-interest.
Onkar appeases the New Left while opposing Trump—and still claims to stand for capitalism and freedom.
“Moral cowardice is fear of upholding the good because it is good, and fear of opposing the evil because it is evil. The next step leads to opposing the good in order to appease the evil, and rushing out to seek the evil's favor. But since no mind can fully hide this policy from itself, and no form of pseudo-self-esteem can disguise it for long, the next step is to pounce upon every possible or impossible chance to blacken the nature of the good and to whitewash the nature of the evil.”
—Ayn Rand. Voice of Reason, “Altruism as Appeasement”
And here's the embarrassing truth. Trump is much more intelligent than Onkar. A key part of intelligence is the ability to decide relative importances. Which is more important--criticizing someone for their non-intellectuality or closing the border? Which is more important--nitpicking someone's intemperate statements or refurbishing the US military?

I fully agree with the article.
The clarity of thought in this article is inspiring. Thanks a lot for publishing this.

Onkar should be in awe of the greatest political leader in our lifetime. Is Trump too big for his perspective? I think so, I think so.
You get the idea.
To show what I think someone like Onkar should be doing--extending philosophy--here's my new Substack:
