John Allison’s impact on the mission of advancing Objectivism is extraordinary and inspiring.
An illustrious leader in the banking industry, Mr. Allison served as Chairman and CEO of BB&T Corporation, one of the largest financial holding companies headquartered in the United States. During his tenure as CEO from 1989 to 2008, the company grew from $4.5 billion to $152 billion in assets. Recognized by the Harvard Business Review as one of the world’s top one hundred CEOs, he is a principled advocate for individual rights and capitalism, and a vocal champion for Rand’s philosophy.
For years, Mr. Allison has been a member of ARI’s Board of Directors and he has promoted Rand’s books and ideas in academia, in business, and beyond. Now, as he retires from the Institute’s Board, we invite you to a special ARI Roundtable in his honor.
It’s an honor for me to interview Mr. Allison at the ARI Roundtable. There’s so much to cover, but here are just some of the topics I expect we’ll discuss: the influence of Rand’s ideas on his career and approach to leadership, his drive to bring Objectivist values into the workplace, and his work to introduce Atlas Shrugged to college students and to encourage business schools to teach the moral foundations of capitalism.
Invitations for the March 22 event, which starts at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET, have been sent to donors and members of Atlantis Legacy, our planned giving program. If you’d like to attend this event as well as future ones, please consider becoming a member.
