What a gem this book is going to be, and so needed. I found Ayn Rand at 42. Even now at 72, in some situations my emotional attachment to altruism immediately kicks in and I have to take a moment to think through what is really going on. I was an atheist since my teens, but always still superficially thought selfishness was a vice until a very smart lady convinced me of "The Virtue of Selfisness". Can't wait for the book.
Ben, I always enjoy your analyses of the issues confronting modern man. This book will address the root issue in a way that I think Ayn Rand would wholeheartedly approve. I especially appreciate your observations about how altruism still remains a lingering influence for those who make the transition from mysticism to atheism. I related to your personal story very much. I can’t wait to read the book. Thanks for your work.
I have enjoyed Ms. Rand's material since high school and still do, but for decades have wanted to insert my two cents. Atheistic morality is ultimately impossible because, without a transcendent Creator, there is no objective, binding source that can make any moral claim universally true rather than merely a preference or social construct. Thanks. Have a happy day!

Thanks Ben!
Great preface. Looking forward to reading and the discussions on podcasts.

How Religious Epistemology and Religious Metaphysics trappings linger and dominate.
Although you did address it a bit with the guilt and shame around sex...that wasn't altruism.
Religious Epistemology - Feeling, Believing, Imagining, "trusting your gut" "feel it in your heart"
Religious Metaphysics - Magical lands of unseen forces for good and evil. "manifest" "heaven"
Religious Epistemology + Religious Metaphysics = Altruism (religious ethics/morality)
Mamas don't let your babies be raised religious.
